চারুচন্দ্র প্লেস (ইস্ট)-এর এক বাসিন্দা আমাদের চারু মার্কেট থানায় অভিযোগ করেন, ১২ সেপ্টেম্বর সকাল আন্দাজ সাড়ে দশটা থেকে দুপুর দেড়টার মধ্যে তাঁর ফ্ল্যাট থেকে চুরি হয়েছে বেশ কিছু সোনা-রুপোর গয়না এবং নগদ টাকা, সব মিলিয়ে ৬ লক্ষ টাকার বেশি মূল্যের জিনিস। 

তদন্তের দায়িত্ব পেয়ে সোর্স ব্যবহার করে দ্রুত তথ্য সংগ্রহ করেন থানার সাব-ইনস্পেকটর গোপাল মণ্ডল, এবং তিনদিনের ভেতরেই, ১৫ সেপ্টেম্বর গ্রেফতার হয় সুরজিৎ ওরফে গৌতম অধিকারী ও দিলীপ ওরফে প্রেম শ, দুজনেই মহেশতলা এলাকার বাসিন্দা। চোরাই মালের সিংহভাগই উদ্ধার হয়েছে তাদের কাছ থেকে, এবং ২১ সেপ্টেম্বর পর্যন্ত পুলিশি হেফাজতে থাকবে তারা।

A theft in broad daylight

This case was recorded on the basis of a letter of complaint from a resident of Charu Chandra Place (East) under Charu Market Police Station, against a person or persons unknown, who had stolen gold and silver jewellery and cash worth over Rs 6 lakh from inside a flat on September 12 between 10.30 am and 1.30 pm.

Entrusted with investigating the case, Sub-Inspector Gopal Mondal gathered information from different sources, which resulted in identification and arrest of Surojit alias Gautam Adhikary and Dilip alias Prem Shaw, both residents of the Maheshtala area, on September 15. Most of the stolen items have been recovered from their possession, and they have been granted police custody until September 21.
