চুরি হয়ে গেছে প্রায় ১৪ লক্ষ টাকার সোনার গয়না

 

 চলতি মাসের ১৯ তারিখ কসবা থানায় অভিযোগ দায়ের করেন ডাঃ জি.এস. বোস রোডের এক বাসিন্দা। বক্তব্য, ৪ থেকে ১৮ ডিসেম্বরের মধ্যে তাঁর বাড়ি থেকে চুরি হয়ে গেছে প্রায় ১৪ লক্ষ টাকার সোনার গয়না, সঙ্গে ১০ হাজার টাকা নগদ। সমস্যা হলো, সন্দেহের তালিকায় একজন-দুজন নয়, একেবারে সাত সাতজন। এর কারণ, একটি এজেন্সি থেকে পরিচারিকা আসে তাঁর কাছে, সুতরাং ঠিক কে যে গয়না সরিয়েছেন, তা বলা সম্ভব নয়। 

তবে একজন সন্দেহভাজন সম্পর্কে তিনি নিশ্চিত যে তিনি দোষী হতেই পারেন না। নাম শম্পা জানা, বাড়ি দক্ষিণ ২৪ পরগনার সাগর থানা এলাকায়।  

সাব-ইনস্পেক্টর অতনু মজুমদার এবং তাঁর টিমের সামনে এর পরের ধাপ, প্রত্যেক সন্দেহভাজনের সঙ্গে কথা বলে আসল দোষী সম্পর্কে নিশ্চিত হওয়া। বিস্তারিত জিজ্ঞাসাবাদের পর একমাত্র একজনের বয়ানেই ধরা পড়ল বিস্তর অসঙ্গতি -- শম্পা জানা। অতনু এবং তাঁর সহকর্মীদের নিপুণ জেরার সামনে ভেঙে পড়ে শম্পা, জানায়, গয়না পাচার হয়ে গেছে তার প্রেমিক বিশ্বজিৎ দাসের কাছে, বাড়ি দত্তাবাদ এলাকায়।  সেই বয়ানের ভিত্তিতে এবার হানা দেওয়া হয় বিশ্বজিতের বাড়িতে, উদ্ধার হয় সমস্ত খোয়া যাওয়া গয়না। জানা যায় গয়না পাচারের ফন্দি ছিলে বিশ্বজিতের। এরপর গ্রেফতার করা হয় শম্পা এবং বিশ্বজিতকে। বরাবরের মতোই আপনাদের জন্য রইল ছবি। 

On December 19, a resident of Dr GS Bose Road complained to Kasba PS that she suspected the domestic help of having stolen gold jewellery such as necklaces, bangles, and earrings worth nearly Rs 14 lakh, as well as Rs 10,000 in cash from her residence between December 4 and 18. The trouble was, she named as many as seven possible suspects, since she sourced her help from an agency and wasn’t sure who the culprit was.

The one person she was sure was above suspicion was one Shampa Jana, a resident of the Sagar PS area in South 24 Parganas. 

The next step for Sub-Inspector Atanu Majumdar and his team was to question each suspect individually. Imagine their surprise when the only one whose statements showed any inconsistency or contradictions was Shampa Jana, who broke down before the meticulous interrogation by Atanu and his team. It was then revealed that the young woman had removed the items and handed them over to her boyfriend Biswajit Das, a resident of the Duttabad area. A raid was subsequently conducted at his residence and all the stolen articles were recovered. Biswajit's intention was to smuggle the ornaments. Both Shampa and Biswajit were then arrested.
