 শ্রী রামকৃষ্ণ পরমহংসের কল্পতরু উৎসব উপলক্ষে কলকাতায় পুণ্যার্থী সমাগমের ওপর নজর রাখতে এবং তাঁদের নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করতে বেলুড় মঠ ও দক্ষিনেশ্বর ঘাটে মোতায়েন ছিলেন আমাদের বিপর্যয় মোকাবিলা বাহিনীর (ডিজাস্টার ম্যানেজমেন্ট গ্রুপ বা ডিএমজি) তিন সদস্য। 

নদীবক্ষে নৌকা নিয়ে বেলুড় মঠ ঘাট ও দক্ষিনেশ্বর ঘাটের মাঝে ক্রমাগত টহল দিচ্ছিলেন তাঁরা। গতকাল বিকেল তিনটে নাগাদ আচমকাই ওই তিনজন দেখেন, জলের তোড়ে ভেসে যাচ্ছেন এক ব্যক্তি। কী ঘটছে বুঝতে পেরে কালবিলম্ব না করে জলে ঝাঁপ দেন ডিএমজির সিভিক ভলান্টিয়ার সাদ্দাম হোসেন লস্কর, এবং ওই ব্যক্তিকে উদ্ধার করে নিয়ে আসেন নৌকার কাছে। 

ডিএমজি সিপাই গৌতম কয়াল ও সিভিক ভলান্টিয়ার তাপস সরকার ওই ব্যক্তিকে টেনে তোলেন নৌকায় এবং দেন প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসা (সিপিআর)। ব্যবস্থা করা হয় পরবর্তী শুশ্রুষার। 

As a precautionary measure to avoid untoward incidents during the Kalpataru Utsav of Shri Ramkrishna Paramahansa, three of our Disaster Management Group (DMG) personnel were deployed at Belur Math Ghat and Dakshineswar Ghat, constantly patrolling between the two ghats in a boat. Yesterday at about 3.00 pm, they suddenly saw a man being swept away by a strong current. Understanding the situation, DMG Civic Volunteer  Saddam Hossain Laskar jumped into the river, followed the man and dragged him to the boat, where Sepoy Gautam Kayal and Civic Volunteer Tapas Sarkar helped pull the man aboard and give him CPR. The kocal police station was informed, and precautionary treatment arranged.
